White as snow – Forgiveness

As I was scooping my driveway today after an overnight blizzard, the song “White As Snow” was humming in my head.

White as snow, white as snow, though my sins are as scarlet, Lord I know, Lord I know, that I’m clean and forgiven. Through the power of your blood, through the wonder of your love, through the faith in you I know that I can be white as snow.

I pondered how the snow covered up all the browns, grays and blacks of winter. Plants and grass are dead and the trees are bare of leaves. There are no beautiful bird songs in the air and the sky is cloudy and gray. Yet, the white snow somehow brings joy and beauty in the midst of a sad dreary winter. I can’t get enough of this beautiful winter wonderland!

I was then reminded of God’s word as He refers to our scarlet, red and crimson sins in Isaiah 1:18. The Lord asks us to come and reason with Him. He has covered up our sins that made us dead and has made us white as snow and wool!

“Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah‬ ‭1:18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

My past, present and future sins have been forgiven; all because Jesus shed his blood on the cross for me and he has exchanged my sins with his righteousness.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

I have let go of my sins, allowing Jesus to take them. And in exchange, I am now wearing Jesus’ white robe of righteousness instead of my deadly sins. Imagine yourself wearing a plush, five-star hotel white robe that covers you from head to toe. This is how my Heavenly Father sees me! I can’t help but give God all praise, glory and thanksgiving for His gifts of forgiveness, mercy and grace!

“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.” Isaiah‬ ‭61:10‬ ‭NIV‬

May you also experience the excitement and joy that God now looks upon us and sees his son’s righteousness, in the same way we look out across a snow-covered yard and see nothing but pure white snow.
